I must say I was pleasantly surprised to be able to start more than 3 backtests (even when separated in time). Is this higher capacity intended? :)

Yes subscribers can backtest more than 3 in parallel at a time :) Fair use applies, we still share the cluster with all members.
We upgraded the backtesting servers so they are now 60% faster (12-20k/sec for basic template) - and added more to the cluster so there is more bandwidth for when there's alot of people backtesting.

What is the capacity statistic in the upper left hand corner of a running back test? In my case, it's currently $14K but I have far more equity than holdings, so I am confused what this is.

the capacity statistic is the maximum amount of money an algorithm can trade before its performance degrades from market impact. Here is a PDF that explains it in detail
