Hi,
Just signed up to QuantConnect yesterday. I must say this is an absolutely amazing platform and thank you so much to Jared and the rest of the development community. My only regret is I didn't know about it earlier and have spent so much time building my own backtesting and data acquisition engine.
To other users, have you thought about continuity risk? We all hope QuantConnect will be around for much longer. However there is a nonzero risk that it may not exist in its current form in the future. How easy is it to move everything to your own personal desktop or other environment?
My thinking is you move your code into a local instance of Lean but then need to do all the plumbing with broker connection, getting historical/streaming data, submitting orders, interrogating portfolio etc. It's probably not monumental, but nontrivial either. Any other thoughts or have I missed something?

Hi Dat En; we published a couple of articles on this and are working pretty hard on making the open-source support better (demonstrated this week with our new Docker foundations + automated, up to date, NuGet packages which don't require building LEAN locally). You can see more information about setting up a LEAN server here.
Ultimately we believe ironically we'll get the greatest adoption of our cloud platform once we provide the greatest freedom to leave the cloud. So we will keep working on open initiatives.
Also, we're tweaking the business model this week or next to make it more of a "pay for what you use" style of platform. This will be more sustainable and flexible for the community to pick and choose what they need without increasing costs for most people.
We recently opened up LEAN to sponsorship on Github, if this is something you're passionate about being around for the next ten years we'd love your support!
