Hi Seine,
We can get VIX data from the cache:Â http://cache.quantconnect.com/alternative/cboe/vix.csv
QuantConnect downloads this data from Quandl and makes it available through the cache to avoid multiple API calls to Quandl.
For VIX3M, VIX9D, etc, we will need to download the data from the CBOE website and then import it into Lean as custom data. CBOE provides CSVs containing daily data for those indices starting from 2007.

Hi,
Is there any example of doing it, i.e. doesn't VIX9D and use it in my code ?
Thanks,
Derek Melchin
Hi Shay,
See the attached backtest for an example of importing VIX9D prices into a backtest. For full understanding, I recommend reviewing our documentation on importing custom data.

Derek Melchin

Hi Shay,
We've now added the VIX9D data to our built-in CBOE data source. See the attached backtest for an example.

Thanks !

I see that VIX, VIX3M, VIX6M, and VIX9D have all been added to the built-in CBOE data source. Has VIX1Y (ie, 1-year) been added?
Where in the QC documentation can I see all intervals for which are available (e.g., VIX3m, VIX4m, VIX5m, etc.) ? The alternative data CBOE page, nor the data explorer detail this information. Thanks in advance.

Hi Patrick
Unfortunately, VIX1Y is not supported yet. We have contacted the Data Team to request this data.
Please check this CBOE VIX dataset page. The "Volatility Indexes" heading under the "about" tab shall have the information of contracts supported.
