Hi Armin,
You will need to use the Bitfinex brokerage model for crypto margin trading. You can do this in Initialize with
self.SetBrokerageModel(BrokerageName.Bitfinex)This will allow you to take short positions and use leverage.

A newbie question, sorry for it's being dumb. As I understand, we are now able to take short positions and use leverage in both backtesting and live trading?

You are correct; margin trading for cryptocurrencies on Bitfinex is available for both backtesting and livetrading.

Can I use bitfinex brokerage model to trade coins on Binance? The Binance data seems to be better quality and has moore coins.

Hi Bhuang,
Most of the models that are included in the brokerage models are discarded in live trading. If you deploy an algorithm to Binance, QuantConnect/Lean will automatically use Binance data.
The Data Team will be working to add all coins that are available for Binance. On the other hand, if it was possible to place orders to Binance using Bitfinex pairs, Binance would reject the order

Thanks Alexandre Catarino . Does this mean shorting on Binance.com should ‘just work’ when we are in live mode and using margin, since Binance.com supports shorting on margin?
