What is the best auth method for the user the algo would use?

I'm not sure I understand the question, what's the context/purpose of authorizing a user of the algo?

My bad, using Interactive Broker, I use one user especifically for the algo. So the auth is using my cellphone. But recently I notice an auth request like at 2am. My main user was logged off, so I assume was the algo trying to login.

We re-login automatically when the IB servers disconnect for their nightly reboot. Its not precise but roughly between 12am and market open depending on the assets in your portfolio.

Thanks Jared, So two-step auth is not recommended, if second auth step fails what happens?

We don't support 2-step auth (its impossible as we need to automatically login often). This is displayed in the live-launch wizard when you click "Go Live".
