Hello there,
I am just starting out with quantconnect. Just trying to push my local project and I think I just found out I cannot use . in my project names?
When I push it renames everything to having a space instead of a dot…
Is this real? Is there anyway around that? What a huge disappointment that is! :(
I like having dots in my naming……why god why!!!!! (sigh…there's probably a reason…websafe…who cares about safe…I want dots!)
I lay out my projects in namespaces and I use dots everywhere? Please please please, someone tell me we can use dots….
Maybe I'm overreacting :)
Thank you for any thoughts
Mia Alissi
It seems that there is a limitation in QuantConnect regarding the use of dots in project names, which are automatically converted to spaces. This likely stems from the need for web safety and ensuring compatibility across different systems. While this might be frustrating, adhering to these character constraints may actually help maintain consistency and prevent potential issues within the platform's ecosystem.
Currently, there doesn't appear to be an official workaround to use dots in project names on QuantConnect. Instead, you could consider adopting alternative naming conventions that align with the platform's constraints, such as using underscores or camel case to retain organizational clarity in your project naming.
If namespace structure is crucial for your organization, you might explore managing your code's namespace within the project itself through directory structures or class names, allowing you to keep your coding style organized without relying on the project name.
