Hi,
how does autosave works for notebooks?
Yesterday I work a full day on a a notebook, I left computer (with QC open I admit) and today when I came back and reopened the page the code was the old one. I lost hours of work.
Does it save only when notebook is closed manually?
I tought it autosave at every change.
Any way to recover my job?

Here are important points regarding the autosave functionality and recovery options for QuantConnect Notebooks:
Autosave Functionality: It appears there is limited detailed documentation specifically addressing the autosave mechanism of QuantConnect Notebooks. In general, Jupyter-based notebooks come with periodic autosave functionality, but it's advisable to test this by making changes and refreshing to see how the notebook behaves. Autosave should capture changes periodically. However, it might be prudent to save your work manually, especially before closing the browser or stepping away from your computer.
Session Expiration: The documentation mentions a timeout period where after 15 minutes of inactivity, cells may become unresponsive, suggesting a need to restart. This could potentially lead to session expiration, affecting unsaved work.
Recovery Options: There isn't explicit documentation on recovery options if work is lost despite leaving the notebook open. It might be due to a disconnect or session expiration.
For recovery, consider these steps:
Check for Manual Saves: If you saved the notebook before, it should retain the last saved state.
Explore Backups: If possible, search for
.ipynb_checkpoints
directories which Jupyter sometimes uses for temporary backups, although this depends on specific configurations.Contact Support: Reach out to QuantConnect support with details of your issue. They may have the capability to check server logs or backups to help recover your work.
Version Control: Consider employing a version control system like Git to manually commit changes, ensuring you preserve them independently of the platform's functionality.
It would help to engage with QuantConnect support to potentially recover lost data and to obtain more personalized information on their autosave and session handling processes. Adopting habits like regular manual saves and version control can strengthen your data persistence strategy moving forward.

Even today I edited for several hours launching run several times.
I assumed at every run the notebook is saved. Not true.
I lost again hours of work, this time just beacuse after several hours by mistake i pressed wrong shortcut and left page.
How to save manually? Autosave doesn't really work and indeed when a notebook is run it is not saved!
What am I missing? It's a ugly behaivour apparently.
