QuantConnect's live trading with Interactive Brokers (IB) does require your account credentials, but it's important to note that your account details are not saved on QuantConnect. When you deploy your algorithm, you enter your IB username, ID, and password, but these details are only passed through to the live server you're running and are not stored in the QuantConnect database. QuantConnect employs modern security practices to ensure the safety of your information (source).
Furthermore, the account access is limited to trading and not withdrawals. So even in the unlikely event of a breach, and if someone somehow gets your 2FA device, they could only place trades on your behalf, not withdraw funds (source).
As for the terms of service of Interactive Brokers, it would be best to consult with them directly regarding their policy on third-party access. However, it's worth noting that QuantConnect's platform is designed to respect and work within the constraints of brokerage policies. For example, by default, IB only supports one connection at a time to your account, and QuantConnect's platform is designed to respect this (source).

Can I ask what has been done to ensure access is limited to trading only? Presumably all instructions go through TWS, how are withdrawals prohibited?

Sorry for the delay John; this trade-only restriction used to be controlled in the Interactive Brokers account settings when you set up the 2FA. I'm unsure if it's still the case, and I can't repeat the process as our 2FA is all setup. The orders go through the IB Gateway but we're looking into the IB FIX API.
