Hi
This evening when I tried to start learning a bit more about quantconnect, the coding environment would not load. It just sits there with the message ‘Loading coding environment…’. I even shut down everything and restarted the machine and tried again, same problem. I see it has two active enviroment in the left hand panel, below ‘Projects’, there are two ‘<> Algo name’ entries in the menu. I can't shut them down, when I click on the ‘stop button’ it tries to load the enviro and I'm back to square one. I have just managed to stop the one, the other one no luck. Please help.

Actually I think I can't shut down the one coding environment as it has such a long name. TipList_v002 shut down, but I can't select the square to shut down the other one, when I click it, it tries to load the environment and hangs. I have signed out and signed back into quantconnect, which does not help.

It finally opened and I closed it. So I guess the issue is sometime opening a new environment sometimes just takes ages.

I've been experiences issues since last night. I have a backtest that when I clone it gives me different results. Wasn't able to view my live algorithm until this morning because the environment wouldn't load. Not sure what's going on.

Hi Stephen
Did you algorithm have any component using random generator? We cannot debug with insufficient information, please attach a backtest or code snippets if you need further assistance.

I'll attach the original backtest. The strategy is a simple KNN with a fixed rolling window. If you clone this and run you'll see different results. I've worked with Alex privately and been monitoring the same clone for about 2 full weeks now and the results are consistent every day. So I think its fair to rule out random number generation or some moving aspect of the algorithm causing the change. The asset being traded is very new so that might play a part. The data provider may have adjusted prices on their end? I don't know what changed from this posted backtest to the new results but KNN is a simple concept. Unless I'm missing something the only reason the results would differ is if the distances differ and that would only happen if the indicator values differ which would be a result of the input data changing, right?

First time getting this issue and I have been stuck on this window for 30mins. I tried both chrome and edge

I'm also stuck on the “Requesting coding environment” screen. This was working fine about 8 hours ago.
John Munro
I'm stuck for 4hrs. It's very counter-productive.
Jake Sehnert
I've been stuck for a few hours as well. I wish I could say I'm surprised, but this has been par for the course in my experience using QC.
Douglas Sterner
Add me to the list as well.
QuantTrader
Hello everyone,
I'm also stuck on "Requesting coding environment..." and have been unable to do any backtesting for the past four hours. I followed the troubleshooting steps listed on the platform's website (https://www.quantconnect.com/docs/v2/cloud-platform/projects/ide#15-Troubleshooting), but the issue persists.
I'm new to QuantConnect and not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. It was working fine about 17 hours ago, but now I'm unable to launch any backtests.
I'm wondering if this issue is specific to the Free Tier of the platform. Additionally, I'm curious if anyone is able to access Live Trading.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, how common is it?
Thank you.
Enjolras Leigh
I have the same issue, i think there is something wrong with the service. You can check live trading server status. It is down.
Krysta B
This is working for me now. For reference, it was not limited to the free tier; I pay for a backtesting node.
