There's a QCAlgorithm.LiveMode property that's true if running in live mode.
They need something similar to tell if it's running as a backtest, and optimize, and if it's in the debugger.

can be used to check if we are backtesting mode or not, and optimizations are backtesting only we can create a class variable of boolean type to act as a checker to verify if we are running an optimization or not:

Please consider adding this to the run-time (like C# has DEBUG enabled when running in debug mode).
And yes, your suggestion is a good one on the meantime (although I sometimes forget to change the value before running).
