Hello,
I have a very simple problem. All I want is to get the current numerical value of an indicator (such as SMA) - at its current position in time - and store it in a double variable.
For example (I know this does not work):
private SimpleMovingAverage sma;
double dCurSMA;
dCurSMA = (double)sma;
Thank you for your help,
Phil

Hi Phil; Most of LEAN uses decimals to avoid loosing precision when doing money math. The indicator is implicitly cast to a decimal so you can do things like this:
private SimpleMovingAverage smaSlow; private SimpleMovingAverage smaFast; if (smaSlow > smaFast) { Buy() } // doubleSma is a decimal; so the numbers need "m" on the end. var doubleSma = smaSlow * 2m; //Extracting to a separate variable decimal valueSma = sma;
