This question has been asked before here:
The answer was no, QuantConnect doesn't support trading mutual funds, but no further explanation was given.
In times of crisis/slow growth, fixed income can be an important part of your portfolio. If QuantConnect added support for mutual funds and closed end funds, that would allow us to automate one of the last major components of our portfolios.

I can't speak for QC but I think reasons may be that the industry has been in migration from mutual funds to the more tradeable ETFs over the past several years, and given that mutual funds are not tradeable like ETFs and that QC is a trading platform these may be some answers. Mutual funds, as I understand, give the NAV only once per day.
You mention fixed income, and there are numerous ETFs that give investors exposure to fixed income of all kinds (treasuries, corp high grade and junk, emerging markets, muni's, etc.) , plus they allow investors to move quickly in and out at any time during the trading day and at a quoted price.
Just my thoughts which hopefully may help. Correct me on anything above if I may be wrong.

Those are good points. Fixed income ETF's can be a suitable alternative.
My understanding however is that since ETF's are traded on an exchange and shortable, this can mean volatility.
Take a look at what happened to AGG in ‘08.
Just some thoughts. But the explanation that QC is more of a trading platform makes sense. Thanks for the answer.
