Whichever route you go, you will probably want LEAN running locally anyways. The most important thing starting out (in my opinion, as someone starting out) is to make your learning loop as fast as possible. Local dev is key to this
Being able to code strategies and run backtests locally will help you find bugs much faster than doing everything through the web UI

I agree with Luis that it's not either-or; both would be the ideal use case for speedy development and stable efficient live hosting. QC's live cloud has a great UX, notification features, live data, etc.. redundant 10GB dedicated internet connections.. setting all that up for your own live trading is near impossible as a start-up fund.Â
If you want to avoid purchasing data, you can use our cloud and avoid setting up your own backtesting cluster; can leverage ours. It saves you time to focus on the critical matter of alpha =).Â
