I've seen this scattered throughout the documentation and code, but not really sure what this means.
The documentation states the following:
true, if symbol is a derivative canonical symbol
Great, but what is a canonical symbol. I'm guessing that it's a symbol created to represent an option.
Can anyone explain?

As per some implementations of .IsCanonical in the source code, it seems to refer to whether or not the security has a "chain" of values (e.g., for options and futures).
Admittedly, the documentation should be changed to reflect this explicitly.
